This unusual year of 2020 has taught us the unusual ways of receiving the festivals and festivities. Like the previous Eid ul Fitr, we are about to welcome our 2nd sacrificial event of Eid ul Adha in the same Corona panic with a bit saddening heart.
This hardest hit of this killer virus has forced the world to take hardest decisions first time in the postmodern times. One such decision is the closure of the Muslim holiest sites for the grandest event of Hajj on the eve of Eid ul Adha. Millions of devotee brothers and sisters, planning to fulfill this religious Hajj duty this year, got no possibility in this sorrowful year.
But being a Muslim, it is our staunch belief that every hardship is followed by an ease. So a believer never despairs. In fact, these days, things are gradually getting back to new normal. The killer virus is loosening its agonizing grip. So instead of being sad, we must continue hoping and praying that after these challenging Corona summers, we get carefree healthful winters. May these winters bring the spiritual chance to feel the mystical Kaaba showers through Umrah Packages.
Situation is getting better now and Eid Ul Adha 2020 is just around us. The people these days have started the online sell and purchase of sacrificial animals. Strict SOPs would be followed while moving for the new normal.
However Qurbani or sacrifice is not the only Sunnah of Eid ul Adha. There are number of other sunnahs that we have to follow to continue our special sacrificial eve.
Special Sunnahs for Sacrificial Eid (Eid ul Adha)
Here are following simplest sunnahs that Holy Prophet (SAW) performed by himself. These are the decent acts of Prophet (SAW) that every Muslim must perform to make their Eid ul Adha contented and blessed.
Pray Before the Night of Eid
Some of us may not know that it is sunnah to make dua night before Eid. As the Holy Prophet (SAW) has said that
“There are five nights on which du’as are not rejected: the first night of Rajab, the fifteenth night of Sha`ban, Thursday night, the night before Eid al-Fitr and the night before Eid al-Nahr (al-Adha)’’. (As-Suyuti)
Pray Fajar Prayer
Start your day with the Fajar Prayer every day. The Holy Prophet (SAW) used to woke up early in the morning every day to offer his Fajar Salah. You must also do the same.
Perform Ghusal (bathing) for Eid Prayer
The Holy Prophet (SAW) used to perform special Ghusal before setting out for Eid Prayer. So you should also follow this Sunnah on Eid eves.
Go for Eid ul Adha Prayers
The performance of Eid prayers is the very significant sunnah of the Holy Prophet (SAW). In the previous Eid ul Fitar, the Muslims performed their Eid ul Fitr prayers in smaller gatherings at home. The mosques were closed for public Eid prayers in the wake of the Corona crises.
However, this Eid ul Adha is bringing life back to the new normal with strict preventive measures. The community mosques are taking the strict measures of social distancing in the form of six foot rule. According to this new normal rule you have to stand six feet apart from your fellows.
But it is strongly advised not to stuff yourself in the mosque if
You find the mosque already full
You have the flu-like symptoms, a sore throat, or fever.
Wear Neat n Clean Clothes
The Holy Prophet (SAW) used to wear neat and clean clothes on this Eid eves. But the Muslims mainly tend to wear new clothes and that is not an inevitable Eid requirement. The actual requirement is to wear the spick and span clothes with a happy heart, not brand new ones.
